What's New and Exciting Lately?

First of all, I would like to say thank you to all of the dads, grandpas, and uncles who were able to make it to our Father's Day Play Day! I heard that it was a lovely afternoon and that everyone had a lot of fun (unfortunately I was not able to be there since my sister's university graduation fell on the same afternoon).

Thank you again for all of the donations to the Humane Society! The volunteers were in complete awe by the kindergartens' generous donation of gifts but equally appreciative of our monetary donation in the total of $54.00! Today handouts are going home about the Ottawa Humane Society's Dog Buddies Program.
Our visitors Navi, Rosie, and Barclay from the OHS.
Our plans for the rest of this week: On Wednesday afternoon, we will be working on Summer Safety posters with our Grade 3 buddies. Thursday afternoon, we will be participating in the Peace Drummer's presentation (I will post pictures afterwards).
Next Monday will be our Year End Mass at 10:35am.

Please find bellow some pictures from the past few weeks :)

This was a very exciting week! On Tuesday we had our first 2 butterflies emerge! The week continued to become more and more exciting as more butterflies emerged and we began to wonder where they would go when we released them at the end of the week. We watched the following video "Goin' Down To Mexico (The Monarch Butterfly Song)" that helped us answer this question. We also had a few questions about the changes we saw from baby caterpillars to butterflies so we watched the video How does a caterpillar change into a butterfly?

Our butterflies inside the classroom.

On Friday (just before our morning recess) we released our 20+ butterflies! Some of them were so comfortable in their cozy home, that I had to lift them out with their food :).

This week we also said Goodbye, Thank You, and We'll Miss You to Mr. Michel who has moved to a school in Orleans where he can be closer to family. We made a special book for him with different reasons why we are thankful for him (for example: Thank you for... "your help" (EO), "doing a good job" (AL), "your wonderful work" (KG), "keeping our school pretty" (SP), "making our school so clean and being so helpful" (SE), "shoveling snow" (JM), and "not leaving any spots of dirt" (CS).
