Reminders and Weekly Update

Guessing Box:
A reminder that the box and instructions should be returned to school the next school day that your child is present and that it should be returned in the same condition (for example, the instructions in the page protector and not scrunched up). I have gone through many page protectors and zip-lock baggies over the past few weeks since these are not being returned. We discussed this again as a class today about treating things with respect and returning things in the same condition to which you received them. Thank you for your co-operation with this!

Reading Program:
Next week will be the final week for the reading program. After this, Mlle T and I will be sending home packages with work and extra practice tailored to your child's needs. I will also be sending home some worksheets from the program Handwriting Without Tears which focuses on proper letter formation. This is something that every child will be bringing home since I have just finished assessing everyone's printing/letter formation and have determined that there are several letters each student needs to work on. With this package, your child will only be bringing home worksheets for the letters that I noticed they need extra practice with. If they have mastered the correct form for printing a letter, I will not include that letter as part of their package (so each package is unique).

I still encourage you to be reading with your child everyday and to have them practice reading. You will still have access to the Raz-Kids website and the library is a great place to find other books. If you do not have leveled books at home, or you want a change, try having your child read one of their favourite books. If they say they can't then encourage them to read the words they do know and sound out the ones they don't.

Note about new change of clothes:
Mlle T and I would like to apologize for the confusion with the note being sent home on Wednesday about exchanging your child's spare clothing for spring/summer clothing and the actual clothing not being returned. We were both away the last 2 days and there was some miscommunication. If you have not done so already, please send your child with an extra set of clothes that are appropriate for the current weather. If we have not sent home their fall/winter clothing yet, please write us a little reminder and send it to school in your child's mailbag. Thank you for your continued co-operation!

Over the past few weeks it has been very busy! Sorry for not updating the blog in a little while! Unfortunately, between technical difficulties and a very busy schedule, the blog has taken a seat on the back burner....BUT.....
              IT'S BACK!!!!!! :)

Thank you again to everyone who sent in contributions for our class basket fitting with our gardening theme! Baskets will be on display from May 5-16 and raffle tickets can be sold from now until May 16 as a St. Stephen fundraiser. If your child sells all of the tickets in their booklet and you wish to sell more, please let us know so we can send home another booklet. The draws will take place May 16 in the afternoon and winners will be notified by phone.
